Nephrology Department

This is one of the few units in West Bengal where endotoxin tests are done regularly. To help a patient feel more at home during dialysis, every dialysis station has a sophisticated audio/visual system that lets a patient watch TV program of his own choice.

The centre for nephrology is a major participant in intensive care by providing critical care nephrology care to ICU patients with acute renal failure, volume disturbances or electrolyte and acid base disorder. There is facility to dialyze critically ill patients without shifting them to the main Dialysis unit.

The dialysis centre works closely with other specialties addressing patient kidney failure prior to any surgery or cardiovascular procedures like Coronary angiogram, angioplasty and taking appropriate steps to ensure the best possible outcome. The day to day activity includes more than 400 hemodialysis, CAPD’s, 10 -15 SLEDDs and 25-30 temporary /permanent vascular access placements every week
