1st National Conference on Spinal Muscular Athrophy

Peerless Hospital with Cure SMA Foundation of India jointly staged the First initiative on a national level to voice for affordable medication for children suffering from Spinal Muscular Athrophy, a genetic disorder characterized by degeneration of motor neurons in the spinal cord leading to weakness in the muscles connected to breathing, swallowing and walking. Peerless Hospital have already been providing supportive care for these children in terms of paediatric, neurology, spine surgery, diet, physiotheraphy and counseling under one roof through SMA Clinic. The dignitaries discussed the roadmap to better healthcare support to SMA patients and encouraged clinical trials to make medication available and affordable to the Indian context.
